Strategic Public Relations

Public relations is a multi-faceted industry.  While many people consider PR to be "free advertising" or "getting publicity," the textbook definition of public relations is:

The management function that establishes and maintains mutually beneficial relationships between an organization and the publics on whom its success or failure depends.  (Effective Public Relations, Cutlip, Center & Broom)

More simply put, PR isn't just about getting press, it's about reaching your target audiences or stakeholders via a vast array of communications vehicles, and doing so with relevant, impactful messages.

While media relations - or getting press - is a core function of PR, strategic communications planning involves more than the tactic of distributing a press release.  It involves consideration of all your important audiences - customers, consumers, vendors, employees, investors, government officials, community members and the media - and using the best available vehicles to reach them with your messages.

Your message, by the way, is more than your advertising tagline or company slogan.  Sound Solutions uses a proven message development process that considers the impact of your message on all of your key stakeholders.

Sure, we offer editorial services, writing press releases, articles, newsletters and more, but we recommend these tools within a larger strategic communications approach.
